Moving Backwards...

... from the roll hoop. We got the rear subframe jigged in place, and started test fitting sheet metal. We should know better than to make parts off of the print by now. Two of the four pieces that we made from the drawings didn't fit at all.

The pieces that were made by tracing the old parts did fit, but one was damaged during test fitting and had to be remade. Having to refabricate so much really slowed us down this weekend, but we're still happy with how much got done.

There's more drilling, deburring, and fitting ahead, but we've only got about a day's worth of work left before we can start test fitting the engine and fabricating the engine mounts. Then it'll be back to the powder coater before everything is riveted together and the car comes back home from its stay in Dad's garage.

The car's wheelbase was set to print, which was 80". I know these are popular cars with the autocross guys, but I thought I had read that LeGrands needed to be extended to get the 80" wheelbase they require. Maybe that's just the Mk18's?
